The eMatrix system with Syneron’s unique Sublative™ treatment goes beyond fractional methods of skin resurfacing. The system utilizes Sublative RF™ – fractionated bi-polar radio frequency technology – to place the heat energy effectively into the dermis where it can produce significant skin tightening with minimal epidermal disruption.
eMatrix treatments for acne scars involve minimal downtime and patients don’t need to limit their activities following a treatment, according to Syneron Medical. A full-face treatment takes about 20 minutes, during which you may feel some heat or a prickly sensation. You should begin to see results after the first treatment, and your face will continue to show improvements for up to one year after your last treatment.
Patients who opt for sublative rejuvenation with eMatrix are first given a topical anesthesia that’s allowed to work for about a half an hour. The patient can go home soon after the treatment. Once home, they’ll have some swelling and redness that usually goes away within a week. Our patients are able to see improvements from three to six months after the treatment.
There are some people who should not have eMatrix. These are people who’ve taken Accutane for their acne within six months of the treatment, people who have metal implants or pacemakers and people who have diabetes, cold sores and autoimmune problems. Patients who have recently had injectable dermal fillers in the place they want treated should also not have eMatrix.
Most patients need three treatments, each spaced about a month or six weeks apart, according to Syneron.
Little research has been done involving treatment of acne scars with the eMatrix system. However, studies on wrinkle correction and facial rejuvenation using the system show it can effectively stimulate collagen growth, which will improve acne scars. In one study, published in 2009 in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, researchers used eMatrix to treat 35 subjects and concluded the system reduced wrinkles by at least 40 percent in half of those treated.
The patients treated in a 2009 study by Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, experienced minimal pain and downtime with no permanent side effects.
Because eMatrix stimulates cell re-growth and collagen production by heating the
inside of the skin rather than the outside, eMatrix is a more natural approach to eliminating signs of aging, overexposure to the sun or deep scarring from severe acne.
Trilogy Medical Spa is hands-down the best med-spa in Utah. I had a membership to another med-spa when I found Trilogy and was extremely loyal to my dermatologist for all of my injecting needs (lips, Botox, etc). There’s just something different about Trilogy…. I’ve had facials, PRP, and injections all done at Trilogy and they’re now my one-stop shop for all of my med-spa needs.
Dr. Kat and the rest of the staff were super friendly, helpful, and professional. The consultation was great and I never felt like anyone was pressuring me to do things I wasn’t comfortable with.
I was thoroughly impressed by the staff the range of services they offer and the passion that Dr. Kat has for women’s health. What a fabulous place to feel better from head to toe!
